Nigeria’s foreign reserves rise to highest point in nine months

Share This: In what sounded like a ray of hope for the depressed economy of Nigeria, Central Bank data showed on Tuesday that Nigeria’s foreign exchange reserves rose 8.9 percent to $27.49 billion by Jan. 20 from a month ago, climbing to the highest level since April, according to Reuters reports. The reserves are down 3.17 percent from the same period in January 2016, however. The central bank did not provide any reason for the recent rise in reserves, although it may be due to the rise in global oil prices and in the OPEC member’s production levels.

Nigeria: NCS terminates appointment of 48 officers

Share This: Breaking news today, Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, reportedly terminated the appointment of about 48 senior officers in the service. Ag. Comptroller in charge of Discipline, Ganiyu I. A. A made the termination known in a circular signed by and addressed to all Zones, all Customs Area Command and units. 45 officers were dismissed, 11 retired while the appointment of three was outrightly terminated.
